The 157th winner of the 1000 Guineas, held on Thursday 30th April 1970 over the Rowley Mile, was Humble Duty (3/1 joint fav), a grey filly by Sovereign Path out of Flattering, owned by Lady Jean Ashcombe. The winner won by an impressive 7 lengths, the greatest winning distance of the century, in 1 minute 42.13 secs, with 2 lengths back to the third. A field of 12 runners contested the race which was worth £21,105 (Equivalent to £318,700 in 2017)
