THE FINAL

Fine Jubilee was made odds-on favourite to gain a success from trap 3 over last years runner up Curleys Fancy II. In the event he led from the boxes but was caught by Curleys around the second bend. Down the back straight Curleys maintained a slender lead, but Fine Jubille made his challenge as they approached the third bend. He ran on too strongly for Curleys and scored a hollow 6 length victory, with Curleys being caught on the line by Itchok to be denied second by 1/2 length.

I am grateful to Tony Nash for the rare scan of the trophy presented to the trainer of the1936 Greyhound Derby winner Fine Jubilee. This was presented to Mrs. Yate (also the owner) when her dog won. Fine Jubilee also won the Gold collar in 36 as well as being a finalist in the Laurels that year. In 1937 he was a finalist in the Gold collar and Laurels.

I am grateful to Lee Calcutt for the scan of the rare 1936 Greyhound Derby racecard shown below.
