THE FINAL
Early round results suggested this was a formality for Endless Gossip, and the punters made him the even money favourite, with Drumman Rambler the only one seriously backed against him at 7/2. As the Derby roar reached its crescendo it was the inside pair, Drumman Rambler and Shaggy Newshound who led around the first, closely followed by Endless Gossip on the wide outside. By the second bend the pace of Endless had taken him to the front and the result was never in doubt from here on in. He still had three and a half lengths to spare at the line from the second favourite, Drumman Rambler, with the outsider of the party, Shaggy Newshound at 25/1, holding on for third some 3 lengths further back.
