BELMONT GREYHOUND STADIUM

The greyhound track at the County Durham town of Belmont was located at 1° 31' W 54° 47' N and first hosted racing on 13th July 1940. The track was on Broomside Lane and was well supported by the local miners working in Broomside Colliery.

It was an independently run track and continued to operate until closing its gates for the final time in 1969, the land being used for much needed residential housing.
