BIRDSVILLE RACECOURSE
Birdsville is a small town in Western Queensland, about 1600 km west of Brisbane, and with a population of barely 100. However, this does not prevent it from being one of the most unusual, yet highly successful, racecourses in the world.
	Its annual meeting, normally a 2 day meeting, is held each September, and can command crowds in excess of 6000.
Its principal race is the XXXX Gold Birdsville Cup, contested for 128 years but abandoned in 2010 due to excessive rain.
