This was run on Wednesday 26th May 1869 and the winner was bred by Mr William Sadler, owned by John Johnstone, trained by Tom Dawson at Tupgill, Middleham and ridden by John Osborne junior. There were 22 runners from an initial entry of 247. The winner won by a head in 2 mins 52.5 secs, with a length between second and third. The winner won a first prize of £6,225, (The equivalent of £704,400 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator).
