This was run on Wednesday 5th June 1878 and the winner was bred by the Glasgow Stud and trained by Alec Taylor Snr. at Manton. There were 22 runners from an initial entry of 231. The winner won by 1/2 a length in 2 mins 56 secs, with 1/2 a length between second and third.



The winner won a first prize of £5,825, (The equivalent of £659,200 in today's terms based on Bank of England inflation calculator).
