| FAIRYHOUSE RACECOURSE | ||
| Fairyhouse is located just a short distance away from the city of Dublin. The first evidence of racing at the course was in 1848 and quality racing has taken place ever since. It is the home of the Irish Grand National. | ||
| The first Irish Grand National was run at Fairyhouse in 1870 and resulted in a win for Sir Robert Peele. It has been held at the course ever since, apart from two occasions when cancelled because of hostilities in 1919 and again in 1941. | ||
| Arkle and Desert Orchid were two of the most famous winners of the Irish Grand National. To commemorate the success of Arkle the Arkle Room now serves as a funtion room at the racecourse. | ||
| The latest running of the race, in 2008, was on Easter Monday and saw Hear the Echo defy odds of 33/1 to land the event.
