The second running of the Irish Derby was held on Wednesday 26th June 1867 over 1 mile 6 furlongs and 3 yards of The Curragh. The winner was owned by Mr James Cockin, trained by Thomas Cliff and ridden by Charles Maidment. The winner was bred in Ireland by Mr Mozley.

Charles (Lucky) Maidment (1844-1926) was a very successful jockey who won the Jockey Championship in consecutive years in 1870 and 1871. He also rode two Epsom Derby winners, Cremorne (SR 2065) in 1872 and Kisber (SR 2061) in 1876.
