The village of Quambone is a remote village in the Coonamble Shire of New South Wales some 370 miles north-west of state capital Sydney, but just 35 miles west of Connamble. Despite being very isolated and having a population of barely 250, the village holds its own races under the direction of Marthaguy Picnic Race Club and the Quambone Picnic Race Club. At the same time as the Marthaguy Picnic Cup was operational, so was the Quambone Jockey Club, and later the Quambone Picnic Race Club. One pre-first World War meeting organised by the Quambone Jockey Club was held on Tuesday 25th March 1913, with selected results shown below:-

1914 Marthaguy Cup over 1 ¼ miles was won by Hasty Moments, beating Highboy and Pedestal
1915 Marthaguy Cup over 1 ¼ miles was won by Pedestal owned by Mr C Fletcher and Mr T Kelly and ridden by C Fletcher, beating Amloc owned by Mr T Cosgrove
1916 Marthaguy Cup over 1 ¼ miles was won by Amloc owned by Mr T Cosgrove, beating Pedestal owned by Mr T Kelly and Mr C Fletcher, and Miss Okey owned by Mr D C Mathe

Today the Picnic Club stage meetings annually on a Saturday in late August or early September, the highlight of the meeting being the Marthaguy Picnic Cup over 1400 metres. Although in recent years the meeting has suffered more than its fair share of abandoned events due to rain and waterlogging, some of the recent Cup results are shown below.
