The winner was an under-rated an relatively unfancied colt at the start of the meeting, but by its end he had carried off the St Leger and the Doncaster Cup. The winner was splendidly ridden by Sam Darling to claim the prize by a length in 3 minutes 28 seconds. In a career of 20 races Rockingham won 11 and was second in a further 4. As well as his victories at the 1833 St Leger meeting he also won 3 King's Plates in 1834 and the Goodwood Cup and Lewes King's Plate in 1835 to crown an excellent career. Over Round 120%
