WORKSOP GREYHOUND STADIUM

The Nottinghamshire town of Worksop is in the Bassetlaw district of the county and lies on the River Ryton at the northern edge of Sherwood Forest. In early 1939 it had a greyhound stadium situated at 1° 8' W 53° 19' N on Gateford Road. The track proved to be very popular and operated twice a week, offering sprint races over 325 yards and standard races over 500 yards. The stadium operated as an independently run track for 30 years before closing its gates for the final time on 18th April 1969.
