| 1755 First recorded meeting at Shottery Meadow, Stratford on Avon, with Forrester winning the first race on 22nd September. 1769The Theatrical star, David Garrick forms a close association with Stratford Racecourse and a collection was made at the 8th September meeting to pay for a trophy in his honour. The Jubilee Cup is run for the first time. 1778-1835 No records of racing taking place at Stratford, possibly because of protests by local farmers. 1836 Evidence of racing resuming at Stratford with lady Teazle winning a steeplechase.

Prior to gaining success in the greatest steeplechase of them all, Lottery wins at Stratford. 1904The races are renamed Stratford on Avon and Warwickshire Hunt races. 1914-19Racing ceases because of the war. 1922An historic day in the history of the racecourse with the forming of the Race Company on 31st January, a Company which still runs the races to this day. 1955The New Grandstand is completed and opened. 1965The new restaurant is completed and opened. 1969Two Hundred years after the first Jubilee Cup is competed for, September sees the running of the Garrick Jubilee Challenge Cup over a 2 mile hurdle course. |
