GREEN MOUNTAIN RACECOURSE
The Green Mountain racetrack was located at Pownal in Bennington County, Vermont. The course first witnessed racing in 1963 and continued to offer thoroughbred racing until its final meeting in 1976.
	The track did continue to offer greyhound racing until its final closure in 1992.
The announcer at the track was famous for ending the nights meeting with 'Drive carefully as the life you save may be a horseplayer'.
	It was hoped that racing could return to Green Mountain in 2004 when a Massachusetts film company attempted to buy the track but the bid failed.
