KILLARNEY RACECOURSE
It is known that racing first took place in the Killarney area of County Kerry as early as 1827. Indeed, between then and 1901 racing took place at two different venues. At that point racing ceased in the area and did not resume until 1936.

The current racecourse is situated at Clonfert and racing was first witnessed here in 1936.

By 1947 the course was holding a regular Summer Festival extending over 4 days.
