The Tipperary Racecourse is located just a couple of miles from the town of Tipperary in County Tipperary. It hosts a dozen meetings annually and can truly boast to be one of Ireland's top summer racecourses.
Records show that racing was first held in this area at Barronstown Course in 1848. That first meeting took place on 27th March of that year.

By 1916 it moved to its current location at Limerick Junction, holding its inaugural meeting in September. It continued to be known as Limerick Junction until 1986 when it underwent a name change to its present day Tipperary.
The principal races at the track are the John James McManus Memorial Hurdle and the Betdaq.co. Hurdle. The former was first held in 1999 when Istabraq was successful and then went on to greater success in the Cheltenham Champion Hurdle.
