WARRACKNABEAL RACECOURSE
The country racecourse of Warracknabeal is located in the state of Victoria some 210 miles North West of Melbourne.
It is known that racing has taken place in the area since 1864, although not on its present site. In those early days races started and finished at the local hotel and this racing continued until 1890. The Sheep Hills Race Club has also held a meeting in the area since 1886.

In 1899 the Warracknabeal Turf Club was reformed and racing planned for the first time at the present location off the Henty Highway. The inaugural meeting took place in 1900 and the racecourse was then developed to include a grandstand by 1905.
In 1939 the grandstand was gutted by fire but provided a welcome opportunity for a rebuilding programme which has enabled the course to go from strength to strength.
